GSRP Service Utilization by Race/Ethnicity

Data Source: 2020-21

During the 2020-21 program year, GSRP classrooms were available in 473 Michigan school districts. To reflect the usage geographically and account for meaningful racial/ethnic representation, these maps show the extent to which GSRP children represent the racial/ethnic makeup of the eligible population of children in the school district. Racial population in each school district was calculated by matching GSRP sites to nearby schools and calculating an average from Kindergarten through third grade. Racial/ethnic groups are included when the school district has at least 5 eligible children in that group. The participation rate of a specified racial/ethnic group in a school district was compared to the average participation rate across all groups in that school district, where:

"Overrepresentation" indicates that the participation rate for the specified racial/ethnic group in a school district was more than twice the average participation rate.

"Extremely High" indicates that the participation rate was between 1.7 and 2 times the average participation rate.

On Par indicates that the participation rate was approximately the same as the average participation rate.

"Extremely Low" indicates that the participation rate for a school district was less than 0.3 times the average participation rate.

To select each racial/ethnic group for White, Nonwhite, Black, Hispanic, Multiracial, or Asian, use the dropdown menu to the right of the map.
